Ideas wanted for new public square

Help name the new public square being created by the Spirit of Sittingbourne regeneration project.

The new square will link the new eight-screen cinema and six new restaurants to the train station, as part of plans to help attract up to 400,000 visitors to Sittingbourne each year.

Spirit of Sittingbourne – the consortium behind the town centre regeneration scheme – invited people to submit their ideas for what the new public space should be called.

The final shortlist is:

Make sure you vote for your favourite!

Cllr Cameron Beart, deputy cabinet member for regeneration at the council said:

"We received hundreds of thoughtful ideas for names from the local community, which shows a real enthusiasm for the development.

"These have been narrowed down to this shortlist by a panel that includes young people, local business representative and local heritage groups.

"I hope people see this as a way that they can help shape the future of their town, and take the chance to vote for their favourite."

The poll closes on Friday 8 June, with the winner being announced at a council meeting on Wednesday 13 June.
