Consultation on amendments to Street Trading Policy 2021 - 2024

We adopted a policy in relation to our licensing responsibilities in relation to street trading which is licensed under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, on 31 March 2021.

The provision of a policy aims to provide residents, applicants and other agencies with a benchmark of the licensing authority’s expectations and will assist them in understanding statutory requirements.

Whilst the provisions contained within the current policy have worked well for those traders who have 6 month or yearly consents, this has not been the case for those traders who have applied for ‘one-off’ consents to allow them to trade at the various events held throughout the borough. The existing policy has therefore been reviewed and amendments to the existing policy have been proposed.

You can download a summary of the proposed changes (PDF 150kb).

We're keen to receive comments on these amendments, which will be considered before a finalised amended policy is adopted.
