Guidance on temporarily changing the use of a business premises during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

Use this service to tell us that you’re going to temporarily change the use your premises, or any grounds within its boundary, to a hot food takeaway anytime between Monday 24 March 2020 and Tuesday 23 March, 2021 if it’s already being used as one of the following:

  • restaurant or café (Class A3)
  • drinking establishment (Class A4)
  • both a restaurant, café and drinking establishment
  • drinking establishment with expanded food provision

Before you get started

To tell us you’re going to change the use of your premises to a hot food takeaway, you’ll need to email You’ll need to include:

  • provide the address of your premises, including postcode
  • business premises number

What happens next

We’ll confirm that we’ve received your email and update our planning records to show the temporary change of use.
