Guidance for Ice Cream Sellers during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak

You can continue to trade as an ice cream seller during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

You must make sure that you follow the government’s guidance for food businesses on coronavirus (COVID-19), including:

  • limiting contact with your customers
  • taking contactless payments, if you’re able to
  • ensuring that there is at least two metres separation between you and your customers

We recommend that you don’t play music to reduce the risk of drawing a crowd which could make it difficult to ensure social distancing.

Controlling the risk of infection

To reduce the risk of infection when you’re serving customers, you should make sure you:

  • have a supply of hot and cold water available in the van
  • wash your hands thoroughly after serving each customer or use an alcohol based hand sanitiser and disposable gloves

We recommend that you only provide packaged food to customers.
