Following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the RNLI will only be providing lifeguards at Leysdown beach from Saturday 4 July this summer.

We’re continuing to work with the RNLI to assess any opportunities to provide a lifeguard service at all three of Swale’s beaches throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Conditions in the water can often change very quickly and you should be particularly careful while the lifeguards aren’t available. The RNLI have put together advice about water and beach safety.

We’re recruiting lifeguards to help cover Minster and Sheerness beaches this summer. You’ll:

  • work in a team as part of an eight-hour shift
  • be provided with all the necessary equipment, including free training and a uniform
  • be paid for your time, including your break
  • be reimbursed for any travel expenses

You’ll need to attend an induction on the Isle of Sheppey before you can start work.

To apply, you’ll need to:

  • be at least 18
  • have the latest National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ), or the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), and be capable of attaining the NVBLQ
