Swale Borough Council had been working with local groups and volunteers to organise a 20’s spectacular for the town, but unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic has meant plans have been put on hold until next year.

Cllr Richard Palmer, cabinet member for community at the council, said:

"I’m sad to confirm that the Sittingbourne 20’s Weekend we had hoped to be enjoying this summer will not be taking place this year.

"We've been closely monitoring the situation, and we were hopeful we could deliver the event later in the year as something for us all to look forward to.

"However, after speaking to our partners and supporters, it has become clear that it's just not possible for the festival to go ahead in 2020.

"We want to extend our thanks to everyone involved so far for their support and understanding.

“All the work put in so far is not in vain though – it gives us a great platform to plan something even bigger and better for next summer. Put 16, 17 and 18 July 2021 on your calendar now so you don’t miss the fun!”
