Work has begun to install two new disabled parking bays at the Little Oyster car park at Minster Leas.

Swale Borough Council has invested £9,000 to install the new bays to make it easier for less mobile visitors to visit the seafront and access the beach path and other local amenities.

The disabled parking bays will be available for use next month.

Cllr Angela Harrison, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said:

“We have dedicated £9,000 to install two new disabled bays at Little Oyster car park on Minster Leas.

“We are tarmacing the new bays and installing a drop kerb to provide registered disabled drivers with dedicated spaces to park their vehicles when they visit the local area.

“We’re also installing a new fence along the sea side of the car park.

“Everybody should have access to Swale’s seafronts, parks and green spaces, including those facing mobility challenges.”
