New Mayor of Swale Cllr Simon Clark has announced Swale Your Way and Porchlight as his chosen charities for the year ahead.

Cllr Clark was signed in as Mayor at Swale Borough Council’s annual council meeting last month, taking over from Cllr Paul Stephen.

Each year, the new Mayor choses two charities to focus on, and this year it is Swale Your Way, a  mental health project helping people in Sittingbourne and Sheppey access the support they need, and Porchlight who are Kent’s largest homelessness charity.

Cllr Simon Clark, Mayor of Swale, said:

“I’m delighted that my peers have elected me to represent Swale as Mayor.

“I know I have big shoes to fill, and I will do my very best to represent Swale with pride and dignity, attend as many events as possible, and chair the monthly full council meetings with fairness and good grace.

“I’ve chosen two charities to support this year that are very close to my heart – Swale Your Way and Porchlight – and I’m looking forward to organising fundraising events to raise money to help those who need it.”
