Apply for a Dual Driver or Private Hire Licence
Use this service if you’ve already:
- taken and passed your street knowledge test (SKT) within the last six months
- had a successful checkup from your doctor
- successfully applied for an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check within the last three months
Applying
To apply for a licence, you’ll need to:
- download, complete and return an application form (PDF 337KB)
- pay a fee
- send us proof of your address, drivers licence and National Insurance number
Once you’ve completed your application form, you’ll need to email it our Taxi Licensing team at taxis@swale.gov.uk, together with your proof of address, drivers licence and National Insurance number.
Fees and payment
If you’re:
- over 70 when you apply, you’ll receive a licence for one year and you’ll need to pay £50
- 70 or under when you apply, you’ll receive a licence for three years and you’ll need to pay £150
You can pay for your licence online. You’ll need:
- an email address
- a debit or credit card
What happens next
Once we’ve received your application, payment and evidence, we’ll start processing it. If it’s successful, we’ll send you your licence.
Before you can drive a taxi or private hire vehicle, you’ll need to have a valid vehicle licence, if you haven’t already.
