Taxi Licensing Policy

The consultation closes on Wednesday 28 May, 2025.

We're are consulting on a new Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy and we'd like your comments.

The purpose of the policy is to provide clarity for licensed operators, vehicle proprietors and drivers, and the public as to how we'll undertake our licensing function.

The policy will also guide us in making decisions, aligned to the Department for Transport (DfT) Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards.

The policy is also available to view hard copy at Swale House or emailed to anyone who requests it.

Taking part

Should you wish to respond and make comment, please ensure that you do so prior to the end of the consultation period to ensure your comments can be properly considered.

All responses will be presented to a future meeting of the General Licensing Committee where they will be fully considered before the policy is formally adopted.
