A late 19th Century, square chimney constructed of local yellow stock bricks and originally serving the extensively rebuilt yellow brick Engine House below. This chimney forms the last, authentic standing remains of the several brickworks and kilns that occupied much of the area between Abbeyfields Road, the Sewage Farm and the Whitstable railway line from the 1840’s until the 1920’s: much of its production was used in the 19th Century expansion of London. It is therefore a highly significant reminder of the brick industry that was a key employer of local labour in 19th Century Faversham.
