Queenborough and Rushenden regeneration

The town of Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey is full of both history and character.  Swale Borough Council and Homes England have developed an urban scheme over the last few years to compliment and capitalise on these qualities.  The scheme will provide 1,100 new homes and up to 2 million square feet of commercial floor space.

The project is a part of Homes England’s economic assets programme and has seen a large investment in the road infrastructure, with the creation of a new link to the A249.  They acquired approximately 20 hectares of brownfield land for re-development to residential.  Developers have since constructed the first houses on the site and are selling them on the open market.

Developers have also completed the first and second phases of commercial development. These include a 55,000 square foot Morrison’s food store, a KFC and Marston’s pub.  There’s also a 15,554 square foot leisure extension immediately adjacent to the scheme with tenants including Starbucks, Burger King, Costa Coffee and Subway. Together the schemes have produced around 400 new jobs.
