Burial Fees
There is no charge for the burial of a child’s coffin, under the age of 18. This is subject to the criteria of the Children's Funeral Fund (CFF) for England.
The fees on this page will be double if the person was not a resident of Swale at the time of their death and they had not lived in Swale for 15 consecutive years at some point during their lifetime.
Coffin burials and burial of cremated remains include, as required:
- exclusive Right of Burial
- interment
- memorial and re-inscription permits
Sittingbourne, Faversham or Murston
You’ll need to pay:
- £2,700 for the first burial or £1,350 if you’ve already brought a grave but haven’t used it
- £1,080 for a second burial
- £900 for a third burial
Iwade and Isle of Sheppey
You’ll need to pay:
- £2,475 for the first burial or £1,080 if a grave was already purchased but it wasn’t used
- £900 for a second burial
Burying cremated remains
You’ll need to pay:
- £730 for the first burial or £265 if you’ve already brought a grave but haven’t used it
- £265 for a second, third or fourth burial
- £135 for the burial of loose ashes
Other services
You’ll need to pay:
- £2,800 to exhume a coffin
- £375 to exhume cremated remains
- £100 extra for a large coffin or casket which measures 30 inches or more, including handle
- £145 for the use of the chapel in Faversham
- £105 for the use of the chapel in Sittingbourne
- £75 for the issue of a letter of confirmation where deed is lost
- £75 to transfer the ownership of a grave
- £38 per grave for grave search and certificate
