Renew a Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle Licence
Use this service to renew an existing Taxi of private hire licence.
There is a separate process to renew a dual driver or private hire licence.
To renew your Taxi or private hire licence, you’ll need to:
- have your vehicle inspected
- complete and return an application form
- pay a fee
- send us the vehicle’s V5 log book, most recent MOT certificate and evidence that you have suitable ‘hire and reward’ insurance
You’ll need to pay £290 to renew an existing Taxi or private hire licence.

What happens next
Once we’ve received all the necessary documents, including your completed application, we’ll process your application.
If your application to renew your Hackney Carriage or private hire licence is successful, we’ll send you your new licence within 7 working days.
