Apply for a Taxi or Private Hire Vehicle Licence
Use this service if you’ve already successfully applied for a dual drivers or private hire licence.
You’ll need to pay:
- £340 the first time we issue your Taxi or private hire vehicle with a licence
- £290 when you renew your vehicle's licence
Before you get started
Before you apply for a Taxi or private hire licence for your vehicle, it will need to be inspected by an approved garage. You can download a list of approved garages.
You can apply for a Taxi or private hire licence online. You’ll need:
- your dual drivers or private hire licence number
- an email address
- a debit or credit card
What happens next
Once you've completed your online application, you'll need to email us the following documents:
- vehicle’s V5 log book
- the vehicle's most recent MOT certificate
- evidence that you have suitable ‘hire and reward’ insurance
