Local Plan Publication Draft Consultation (Regulation 19)
This consultation closes at 5pm on Monday 21 September 2026.
We are asking residents, businesses, and stakeholders to comment on the final draft of the Swale local plan. This is your opportunity to give feedback on our vision, objectives, and policies for future development and site allocations across the borough.
If you prefer to read a printed version, we have provided hard copies at all Swale libraries and our three main council offices.
Because this is the final stage, the planning inspector will only look at comments that focus on whether the plan is "sound" and "legally compliant."

Taking part
You can view the draft local plan, along with all supporting maps and evidence documents (including the sustainability appraisal and habitats regulations assessment), on our local plan review pages.

What happens next
This is the final public consultation stage before we submit the local plan to the government.
Once submitted, the government will appoint an independent planning inspector to hold an examination in public, which we expect to take place next year.
