Swale Youth Forum
Swale Youth Forum (SYF) is a group of young people aged 11 to 19 years from schools within the borough invited to represent and act upon the views, issues and opinions of the young people living within Swale. Starting in 1994 the youth forum has grown in strength and continues to allow young people to have a place to talk freely about their concerns in their communities.
Each School within the borough is invited to bring 6 young people to the meetings which takes place across the academic year. The meetings take place within the Council Chambers and the Mayor along with Councillors are invited to hear first hand the concerns of young people.
The meeting is chaired each time by a representative from one of the schools. This is rotated to allow for each school to be given the opportunity to chair a meeting and bring an issue or good news story to the group. Agenda’s for the meeting are written with the chairing school, taking into account the concerns highlighted at previous meetings.
