Air Quality and Planning

Air quality will be a material consideration in some applications. As such, we recommend applicants review the Air Quality and Planning - Technical Guidance and complete an Air Quality Statement as part of their planning application.

An Air Quality Statement provides a useful and simple check list about the application and air quality aspects that need to be considered to support it. This information can then be used by the Planning and Environmental Protection teams to ensure air quality and appropriate mitigation measures have been considered (where necessary). You can access the Air Quality Statement online.

A list of applications that do not need to complete an Air Quality Statement can be found in our Air Quality and Planning Technical Guidance, appendix 2.
