Food business premises approval
Apply for approval
Use this service to apply for approval if you operate a food business, which handles or processes raw animal products like meat, eggs, fish or dairy products.
Before you get started
To apply for approval, you’ll need to email our Food and Safety Team at ehadmin@midkent.gov.uk. You’ll need:
- name and address of the business, including postcode
- name of the company, if it’s different from the business name
What happens next
Once we’ve received your application to approve a food business we’ll arrange for you to receive a food safety visit within two months of receiving your application. If the premises and process meet legal requirements we'll issue an approval .
If your premises don’t meet legal requirements during your first food safety visit, we’ll revisit your premises within three months to assess the progress you’ve made to improve your premises and processes. If we’re satisfied, we’ll grant full approval. Alternatively, we may give you conditional approval.
We may refuse an application altogether if the premises and process don’t meet legal requirements.
