Apply for a licence
Use this service to apply for a licence to board cats and dogs including:
- dog day care
- home boarding for dogs
- commercial animal boarding for cats and dogs
Before you get started
You can apply for a licence to board cats and dogs online. You’ll need:
- a description of the accommodation provided for the horses
- the name and address of the premises
- your public liability insurance reference number, or the steps you’re taking to get it
Once you've completed your application, you'll need to email it to the animal licensing team at animallicensing@swale.gov.uk.

What happens next
Once you've sent us your application, you'll need to pay an administration fee of £263.50.

Once you've paid
If your application is successful, you'll receive:
- an inspection from our licensing officer and an independent vet
- a risk rating score, following your inspection
- an invoice for your licence, based on your risk rating
