Apply for a licence
Use this service to apply for a licence to keep, train or exhibit animals.
A licence to keep or train animals will last for three years.
Before you get started
You can apply for a licence to exhibit animals online. You’ll need:
- a description of the accommodation provided for the horses
- the name of your emergency key holder, if you have one
- your public liability insurance reference number, or the steps you’re taking to get it
Once you've completed your application, you'll need to email it to the animal licensing team at animallicensing@swale.gov.uk.
Alternatively, you can download the complete the application form (Word 147kb) or visit our contact us page.
What happens next
Once you've sent us your application, you'll need to pay an administration fee of £264.
To pay your administration fee, you'll need to call our customer service team on 01795 417850.
Once you've paid
When your application has been received, we'll contact you to arrange an inspection of the premises by one of our licensing officers and an independent vet.
For more information about the premises inspection, including what to expect, you can download and complete the premises inspection form for keeping and training animals (Word 59kb).
Once we've successfully completed our inspection, you'll receive an invoice for the second part of the licence fee, which is currently £494, together with the veterinary inspector's fee.
You can pay this invoice online.
