People can receive useful health advice at events Swale Borough Council are hosting this month.

The council, in conjunction with Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group, have organised another round of One Swale Roadshows to help people affected by the cost-of-living crisis.

February’s theme is health and wellbeing, however guidance and advice on other topics will still be available.

The roadshows bring together organisations and charities who offer crucial support all into one safe space, that residents in need can access.

Organisations who can assist residents may vary across the events, but include: One You Kent, Mid Kent Mind, Imago, Citizens Advice Swale, Cocaine Anonymous, The Harmony Therapy Trust, Alzheimer's and Dementia Support Services, Red Zebra, Faversham Food Friends and South East Water.

The NHS Health Checks Team will also be attending and offer walk-in health checks and free jabs.

The roadshows have already helped over 500 people with things like receiving food and fuel vouchers, reducing their water bills, learning how to access the household support fund and much more.

The February roadshows will be hosted on:

  • 08 February 2024, 9.30am-11.30am Sheppey Gateway, 38-42 High St, Sheerness, ME12 1NL
  • 13 February 2024, 9.30am-11.30am 12 Market Place, Faversham ME13 7AE
  • 20 February 2024, 9.30am-11.30am Eastern Sheppey Community Hub, Leysdown Road, Leysdown-on-Sea, ME12 4RD
  • 28 February 2024, 9.30am-11.30am Kemsley Community Centre, The Square, Ridham Avenue, Sittingbourne, ME10 2SL

The One Swale Roadshows are partly funded by the UK Government's Household Support Fund and Swale Borough Council.

Cllr Richard Palmer, chair of the community committee, said:

“The One Swale Roadshows have become a popular, safe space, for residents in need to speak with organizations who can help them.

“We value our voluntary and charity sector and recognise the significant role they play in our community, helping the most vulnerable in our society.

“That is why we have worked hard to provide this platform and have been promoting these roadshows to our residents as best we can.

“Health and well-being are fundamental to a happy and healthy community and we recognise the challenges facing our residents in accessing invaluable healthcare.

“If you need any non-urgent health advise please come a long to one of the shows this month, of course other support will still be available.”
