Urgent Local Heritage List Nominations
Use this service to urgently nominate an asset if:
- it's at risk of being demolished, or is likely to significantly loose its architectural or historic significance
- it complies with the listing criteria (PDF 135KB) and it's not protected by any existing planning policy or legislation
Before you get started
Before you urgently nominate an asset, read the protocol for urgent nomination (PDF 38KB).
To urgently nominate an asset, you'll need:
- a description of the location of the the asset, including the street and postcode
- at least one good quality photograph of the asset you're nominating
To urgently nominate an asset, email conservation@swale.gov.uk.
Photographs of the asset you're nominating should be large and clear, and at least 2048 pixels in width.
Please make sure you use the email subject line ‘Urgent designation of Local Heritage’.
What happens next
Once we've received your urgent nomination, we'll:
- assess the asset
- send a report to the heritage champion, ward councillor, relevant local amenity society, and relevant area committee representative
- hold a vote on whether to include the nominated asset in the local heritage list
Once the report is sent, those involved will have one week to respond. If:
- there is a majority vote, the nominated asset will be included in the local heritage list
- those involved don't respond within one week of receiving the report, a decision will be taken based on the response received
Outcome of your nomination
If your nomination:
- is successful, it will be included in the local heritage list
- isn't successful, it will be considered in the next round of nominations
A council officer will update you with the outcome of your nomination.
