Apply for a licence

Use this service to apply for a licence to hire horses including stables and riding schools.

Before you get started

You can apply for a licence to hire horses online. You’ll need:

• a description of the accommodation provided for the horses
• the name and address of the premises
• your date of birth

Alternatively, you can download and complete the application form for a licence to hire horses (Word 163kb). Once you’ve completed your application, you’ll need to email it the animal licensing team at animallicensing@swale.gov.uk.

What happens next

Once you've sent us your application, you'll need to pay an administration fee of £263.50.

To pay your administration fee, you'll need to call our customer service team on 01795 417850.

Once you've paid

If your application is successful, you'll receive:

• an inspection from our inspection officer and an independent vet
• a risk rating score, following your inspection
• an invoice for your licence, based on your risk rating
