Listed Buildings - a guide for Owners and Occupiers

The conversion of large houses, and in some other cases, non-residential properties into flats or bed-sits can make an important contribution to the housing stock, providing small dwellings often for rent, without requiring the take-up of fresh land.

This guidance is intended to provide applicants with a guide to the criteria which we will take into account when determining applications for these changes of use.
