When to get advice

You should consider getting advice if you:

  • think there might be problems with your application for planning consent
  • want to know whether your application for planning consent is likely to be successful

When you apply to ask us for advice, you can request a meeting or to receive advice through letters, which includes our recommendations. In some circumstances, we may recommend a meeting.

Fees

You’ll pay a fee in order for us to provide advice unless you’re:

  • a charity, voluntary group or parish council
  • apply for planning consent to repair a listed building

The fee you pay will depend on the type of planning consent you’re applying for and the size and complexity of your proposal. If you request a meeting, the fee you'll pay includes the cost of any letters we produce.
