Article 4 Direction affecting Houses in Multiple Occupation Approval
This consultation closes on Friday 4 September.
On 21 July 2026, we made an Article 4(1) direction to remove the permitted development right set out at Class L(b) of Part 3 of Schedule 2 of the Town and Country (General Permitted Development) Order 2015.
The Article 4(1) direction has the effect of removing the ability to change the use of a dwellinghouses (Use Class C3) to a Small House in Multiple Occupation (Use Class C4) without planning permission first being obtained.
