Gating Restrictions

This consultation closes on 4 September.

We're asking for your views on the proposed renewal of its Gating Restriction Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).

The existing PSPO helps address anti-social behaviour, crime and nuisance associated with unauthorised access to specific alleyways. The order restricts access to designated locations, helping to reduce incidents of vandalism, fly-tipping, criminal damage and other behaviours that can negatively impact local communities. The restrictions currently apply to:

  • The alleyways between Galway Road, Winstanley Road, Coronation Road and Invicta Road, Sheerness
  • The alleyway at the far rear end of Elm Grove and Coombe Drive, Sheerness

These measures are intended to help ensure that local neighbourhoods and public spaces remain safe, secure and enjoyable for everyone.

We are reviewing the current order to determine whether it remains necessary, effective and proportionate. Residents, businesses, visitors and community groups are invited to provide their views before any decisions are made. Consultation responses will be considered alongside operational evidence, reported incidents and local feedback relating to the affected areas.

We're required to consult with Town and Parish Councils, residents, businesses and communities affected by the restrictions within the designated areas.

Your feedback will help shape the future management of measures to address anti-social behaviour in the alleyways between Galway Road, Winstanley Road, Coronation Road and Invicta Road, and at the alleyway connecting Elm Grove and Coombe Drive.
