Guidance for new Taxi and Private Hire Drivers

After you're licensed
Once you’re fully licensed, you’ll:
- be expected to follow the conditions of your licence
- need to have a medical at least every three years
- need to renew your dual driver or private hire licence before it expires
- need to renew your taxi or private hire licence and DBS check before they expire
You may need to renew your licence or take a medical sooner, depending on how old you are.
If we have evidence that you haven’t followed the code of conduct, we could take enforcement action against you or your vehicle. Alternatively, we may issue penalty points.
