Temporary Accommodation
Receiving temporary accommodation
If you have been placed in temporary accommodation, you may need to make regular payments towards it.
How much you pay depends on the cost of your accommodation and your eligibility for Housing Benefit.
We’ll assess your eligibility for Housing Benefit if you qualify for temporary accommodation. There is no need to contact us.
Applying for temporary accommodation
You can’t apply for temporary accommodation yourself.
If you’ve been made homeless, or you think you’re about to be, contact our Housing Options team.
Our Housing Options team will assess your situation to see if we can offer you temporary accommodation.
If you receive temporary accommodation from us, you’ll need to sign an agreement before you can move in.
Once you’re in temporary accommodation
If you receive temporary accommodation from us, you may need to make payments towards it.
We charge you for each night you spend in temporary accommodation. You’ll receive an email from our Housing Options team, which will include the amount you need to pay and advice on paying.
The amount you need to pay may include additional initial costs we’ve had to pay.
You could loose your temporary accommodation if you don’t keep up with your payments.
After you’ve left temporary accommodation
When you leave temporary accommodation you’ll receive a final bill for any remaining rent or outstanding loan amount.
You can pay your final bill online.
If you don’t need temporary accommodation anymore
If you don’t need temporary accommodation anymore, contact our Housing Options team.
You’ll continue to be charged for temporary accommodation until you’ve told us you’ve moved out.
