People in Faversham are being asked to have their say on a draft Neighbourhood Plan.
Neighbourhood plans are important tools in allowing communities to have a direct say on developments in their local area.
The draft Faversham Neighbourhood Plan has been put together by the Faversham Neighbourhood Planning Group that consists of Faversham Town Council and the Faversham Society in consultation with the local community.
The draft plan covers a range of development topics such as maintaining Faversham’s heritage, sustainable housing growth, transport and promoting active travel, such as walking and cycling, and protecting Faversham’s green spaces and natural environments until 2038.
Cllr Mike Baldock chair of the Planning Committee at the council, said:
“The Neighbourhood Planning Group have worked hard alongside the local community to put together this draft plan.
“It’s important we get as many local people’s views as possible on the proposals, as if this is adopted, it will be used to help decide on planning applications in the area.
“We will use the neighbourhood plan to inform decisions on heritage, regeneration and many other strategies that will have a profound effect on Faversham’s future.”
Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Neighbourhood Plan steering group at Faversham Town Council, said:
“The Faversham Neighbourhood Plan public consultation will be running for six weeks giving you the time to leave valuable feedback.
“I encourage anyone interested in the plan to make your voice heard and shape the future development of Faversham.”
The consultation runs from Monday 4 September 2023 to Monday 16 October 2023.
