Rural businesses

You may be eligible for a discount on your business rates if you're the only Post Office, general store, public house, agricultural premises and petrol station and it has a rateable value of:

  • £8,500 or less for post offices, general stores and agricultural premises
  • £12,500 or less for public houses or petrol station

You premises will also need to be in one of the following areas:

  • Eastchurch

Applying

You can apply for rural business rates relief by downloading the rural business rates relief application form (PDF 222kb). You'll need:

  • your business rates reference number
  • the address of your premises

Once you've completed your application, you'll need to email it to our business rates team at ndr@swale.gov.uk.

What happens next

Once you've applied for rural business rates relief, we'll:

  • update your business rates account
  • issue you with an updated business rates bill within 21 days
