Empty premises
You won’t pay business rates on buildings for the first three months after they've become empty. For qualifying industrial buildings this increases to six months.

Applying
To apply for a business rates discount on an empty premises, you'll need to email our business rates team at ndr@swale.gov.uk. You'll need:
- your business rates reference number
- the address of your premises
